Reset a Tripped GFCI
Read more about GFCI outlets before attempting to troubleshoot an issue. The cause of the fault should be determined before resetting the circuit in order to avoid damage to household equipment.
When a protected appliance or outlet is tripped, power is instantly shut off and the RESET button on the appliance or outlet pops out.
- Turn off then unplug all appliances plugged into the outlet.
- Determine if the trip occurred in the device or the outlet by locating the RESET buttons; whichever has the RESET button popped out is the where the trip occurred.
- Press the RESET button that popped out.
- Plug devices back into the outlet and turn them on.
